작가 메모 Artist's Statement

이번 서울의 퐁 데자르 갤러리 초대전에 출품할 작품의 주제는 <빛의 언어>이다.
화단에 발 디딘지 지난 30여 년 동안 <생의 예찬>, <빛과 생명> 등의 주제로 일관해 온 이후, <빛의 언어>란 대명제 아래 빛을 통해 모든 사물의 존재가 드러날 수 있고 그 사물들이 각각의 생명을 지니고 있으며 각자의 존재방식을 취하고 있다는 존재론적 현상을 회화적 양식으로 표현한 것이다.
빛을 통해서만 생명은 유지될 수 있고 모든 사물의 고유한 형태와 색채를 드러내게 된다.
빛은 곧 생명이며 그 사물의 속성을 드러내는 촉매이다.
모든 빛은 고유한 언어를 갖고 있다.
그 빛의 언어를 시각적으로 해독하고 읽어냄으로써 사물과의 교감을 가능케 하는 것이다.
빛에 의해 형상을 드러낸 모든 사물과 사물과의 관계는 곧 우주 질서와 같다.
모든 사물들의 존재방식은 우주의 질서와 같은 방식으로 그 공간을 점유하고 있는 것이다.
각 사물의 존재와 형상을 시각적으로 동일화면에 병치시킴으로써 사물들이 구축한 새로운 세계를 드러내고 이 새로운 세계를 바라보는 눈을 통해 빛의 존재와 에너지를 통찰하고 조형적으로 드러내고자 하는 것이 나의 조형예술의 표현방식이다.
빛은 곧 언어다.

Artist's Statement
The theme of the work to be exhibited at the invitational exhibition of the Pont de Arts Gallery in Seoul is « The Language of Light"”
In the last 30 years, since it has consistently been consisted of subjects such as “The Admiration of Life”, “Light and Life”,
<The Language of Light> can reveal the existence of all objects through light,
Is the expression of the ontological phenomenon in a pictorial form that each of them has their own life
and takes their own way of existence.
Only through the light can life be maintained and reveal the unique form and color of all things.
Light is life and a catalyst for revealing the properties of things.
Every light has its own language.
By reading of the language of light visually, it is possible to communicate with things.
The relationship between objects and objects that reveal their shape by light is like the order of the universe.
The way of existence of all objects occupies the space in the same way as the order of the universe.
By juxtaposing the existence and shape of each object visually on the same screen, we reveal a new world constructed by objects
It is my expression of formative art that I want to inspect the existence and energy of light through the eyes looking at this new world and expose it.
Light has languages.

The social function of art is that has the power of most nonviolent communication.
The value of art is not the value of conversion as a commodity, but the existence of art itself as a human being's birth and life.

La fonction sociale de l'art est celle qui a le pouvoir de la plupart des communications non-violentes.

예술의 사회적 기능은 가장 비폭력적인 소통의 힘에 있다..
예술의 가치는 재화로서의 환산가치가 아니라 한 인간의 탄생과 삶처럼 예술 그 자체로서 존립하는데 있다.
대중 앞에 서있지 않은 예술은 단지 주인과 함께 매장당한 유품과 같다.
모든 예술은 숨을 쉬는 유기체이다.
예술의 표현행위가 공권에 제재 당할 때 사회는 빛을 잃어간다.
예술은 작가의 통찰을 토해낸 정신의 응고체이다.

Recent trends - 빛과 생명 - 2016
<작가 노트>

"빛과 생명"을 대 주제로 모든 생명은 빛과 함께 존재하고 빛에 의해 생성, 성장, 번성한다는 인식 아래 화면에 등장하는 모든 기하학적, 자연적 유 무형의 형태와 형상들을 통해 인간의 삶과 빛과의 관계를 조형적으로 해석하고 빛은 곧 무한한 생명력이라는 생명의 근원적인 존재의 방식을 탐색하는 작업들이다. 이러한 빛과 생명의 근원적 모색을 향한 회화적이며 조형적인 표현을 위해, 여러 번 반복된 붓질의 중층구조를 떼어내고 이를 다시 유기적이며 기하학적인 형태로 자르고 트리밍을 한 후, 화면 위에 꼴라쥬와 리터칭 기법으로 화면을 재구성해나가면서 화면의 깊이를 견지하며 사물들의 상징과 기호로 표현해내고 있다.

<빛과 생명>에 대한 작품
빛이 있는 한 언제나 생명은 있다.
외부의 빛은 태양으로부터 온다.
태양을 보고 살아가면 당신의 그림자를 보지 못할 것이며
어둠 속에서 살아가면 당신의 실체를 보지 못할 것이다.
세상에서 가장 아름답고 소중한 것은 만져지지 않고
다만 가슴으로만 느낄 수 있는 것이다.
가슴으로 느낄 수 있는 것이 곧 사랑이다.
사랑은 밝고 따뜻할 때 나온다.
사랑은 곧 빛이며
빛은 곧 생명이다.
내가 빛을 그리는 까닭이다.
